Title: Increases License Plate Fees
Vote to concur with House amendments and pass a bill that increases certain state fees to raise revenue for the State Parks Fund.
- Increases fees for motor vehicle license plates from $98 to $100, effective at the start of the 2014 registration year (Art. 90, Sec. 80).
- Requires a $15 registration fee for the use of off-highway vehicles, effective July 1, 2013 (Art. 90, Sec. 15).
- Requires the revenue from the certain fee increases to be deposited in the Park and Conservation Fund in the Department of Natural Resources as follows (Art. 90, Secs. 15 & 80):
- $2 revenue from each license plate fee; and
- $10 revenue from each registration fee for off-highway vehicles.
- Authorizes the Department of Natural Resources to establish an entrance fee to the Illinois State Museum (Art. 90, Sec. 5).
- Authorizes the Department of Natural Resources to establish fees for the use of certain facilities including, but not limited to, the following (Art. 90, Sec. 10):
- Public beaches;
- Bike trails;
- Equestrian trails; and
- Other types of trails.
- Establishes a $6 registration fee per year for the use of a motorized watercraft (Art. 90, Sec. 90).
NOTE: THIS LEGISLATION NEEDED A THREE-FIFTHS MAJORITY VOTE TO PASS.
