Title: Child Abuse Reporting Requirements and Statute of Limitations Regarding Religious Figures
Vote to concur with House amendments and pass a bill that requires individuals officially or professionally involved in a church, religious society or faith to report any suspected child abuse or threat of child abuse by another official or professional member of the organization, unless it was revealed as part of a penitent-cleric relationship. The bill makes failure to report under these circumstances a misdemeanor in the first degree. The bill also requires claims of child abuse to be filed within 12 years after the victim becomes an adult or after a public children services agency, a municipal or county peace officer has been notified of suspected abuse.
