Title: Authorizes the Sale of Alcohol on Sundays and Certain Holidays
Vote to pass a bill that authorizes the sale of alcohol on Sundays and certain holidays, effective July 1, 2012.
- Authorizes businesses operating under a package store, drug store, casino, or manufacture permit for beer and brew pubs, or a grocery store beer permit to sell alcohol on the following days, whereas existing law did not allow alcohol sales on these days (Sec. 10):
- Sundays;
- Decoration Day;
- Independence Day;
- Labor Day; and
- The Monday following Independence Day, Christmas Day, or New Year's Day if any of those holidays fall on a Sunday.
- Prohibits the sale of alcohol on Sundays before 10:00 am or after 5:00 pm (Sec. 10).
- Authorizes retailers to sell 1 beer item or 1 alcoholic liquor item below cost each month, provided that the item is not sold at a price that is less than 90 percent of the item's cost to the retailer (Sec. 12).
