Title: Authorizes People to Record Police Officers
Vote to pass a bill that authorizes individuals to photograph or record peace officers while on duty, effective October 1, 2012.
- Prohibits peace officers from interfering with any individual who takes photographic or video images of a peace officer performing his or her duties unless it is for the following reasons (Sec. 1):
- To enforce a criminal law;
- To protect public safety;
- To preserve the integrity of the crime scene or criminal investigation;
- To protect the privacy of the victim of the crime; or
- To enforce court rules regarding photography or video-recording in facilities of the Judicial Branch.
