Vote to pass a bill that authorizes individuals to photograph or record peace officers while on duty, effective October 1, 2012.

Highlights:

  • Prohibits peace officers from interfering with any individual who takes photographic or video images of a peace officer performing his or her duties unless it is for the following reasons (Sec. 1):
    • To enforce a criminal law;
    • To protect public safety;
    • To preserve the integrity of the crime scene or criminal investigation;
    • To protect the privacy of the victim of the crime; or
    • To enforce court rules regarding photography or video-recording in facilities of the Judicial Branch.
