Title: Increases Requirements for Abortion Providers
Vote to pass a bill that requires the licensing of certain abortion facilities.
- Requires facilities that perform 10 or more abortions per month to be licensed by the Commissioner of Health unless the facility is a licensed hospital or outpatient surgical center (Sec. 1).
- Requires the Commissioner of Health to perform inspections of such facilities up to 2 times per year (Sec. 1).
- Requires an annual licensing fee of $3,712 for facilities that perform 10 or more abortions per month(Sec. 1).
- Classifies the establishment or operation of such a facility without a license as a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $300 (Sec. 1).
- Authorizes the Commissioner of Health to suspend, revoke, or refuse to grant or renew a license for any of the following reasons (Sec. 1):
- A violation of any requirements in this section;
- Permitting or aiding in any illegal act in the facility;
- Conduct or practices detrimental to the welfare of patients; or
- Obtaining or attempting to obtain a license by fraud.
