Title: Expands Definition of Offense Against Fetuses
Vote to pass a bill that expands the definition of an assault or homicide victim to include a human embryo or fetus at any stage of gestation, effective July 1, 2012.
- Expands the definition of an assault or homicide victim to include a human embryo or fetus of any stage of gestation in the uterus (Secs. 1 & 3).
- Exempts from the provisions of this act any action by a pregnant woman toward the embryo or fetus she is carrying, including any lawful medical procedure carried out by a licensed health professional with the pregnant woman’s consent (Secs. 2 & 4).
