Title: Requires Physicians to Provide Information About Side Effects of Erectile Dysfunction Drugs
Vote to adopt an amendment to HB 4085 that requires physicians to provide information about side effect of erectile dysfunction drugs.
- Requires that physicians performing abortions give patients the opportunity to view an ultrasound prior to the procedure (Sec. 15).
- Requires that people seeking medical prescriptions for the treatment of erectile dysfunction give “voluntary and informed” consent before receiving the prescription (Sec. 20).
- Specifies that consent to a prescription for erectile dysfunction medications is “voluntary and informed” if a physician informs the patient both verbally and in writing of all the following information (Sec. 20):
- Medical risks associated with erectile dysfunction;
- Medical risks associated with the drug to be prescribed for treatment;
- That erectile dysfunction medication may be hazardous to the patient if the patient has heart problems, high or low blood pressure, history of stroke, eye problems, sickle cell anemia, or any medical condition that may cause priapism; and
- A detailed description of the medical procedure used to treat adverse effects of taking erectile dysfunction medication, including a “medically accurate” video depicting the treatment of priapism.
