Title: Repeals Motorcycle Helmet Law

Vote to concur with House amendments and pass a bill that amends the requirements for wearing helmets while operating or riding a motorcycle.

Highlights:

  • Authorizes motorcycle operators and riders 21 years of age and older to not wear a helmet if the motorcycle operator meets both of the following conditions:
    • The motorcycle operator has had a motorcycle endorsement on his or her driver’s license for at least 2 years or has taken a motorcycle safety course; and
    • The motorcycle operator and any rider each have at least $20,000 in insurance coverage.
  • Prohibits a motorcycle from carrying more people than the vehicle is equipped to hold.
  • Requires moped riders 19 years of age and younger to wear a helmet.
