Title: Interstate Health Care Compact
Vote to adopt a conference report that requires the state of Utah to enter into a Health Care Compact with other states, and authorizes the legislature to regulate health care in the state.
- Establishes and enters into a health care compact with other states (Sec. 1).
- Authorizes the state legislature to regulate health care in the state (Sec. 3).
- Authorizes the state legislature to suspend, through legislation, any federal laws inconsistent with the health care compact (Sec. 4).
- Specifies that health care in the state will be funded by federal money appropriated for health care (Sec. 5).
- Specifies that the compact becomes effective on its adoption by at least 2 member states and the consent of the United States Congress (Sec. 7).
- Specifies that the compact will not become effective if, in giving its consent, the United States Congress refuses to allow individual state governments to regulate health care in their states or revokes federal funding for member states in the compact (Sec. 7).
- Specifies that the health care compact will automatically end on July 1, 2017 (Sec. 10).
