Title: Regulates Certain Drugs Used for Abortion

Vote to pass a bill that regulates the dispensation of the abortion-inducing drug, mifepristone.

Highlights:

  • Requires the physical presence of the physician who prescribed, dispensed, or provided mifepristone, or any drug or chemical used to induce an abortion (Sec. 2).
  • Classifies any person who attempts or performs an abortion in violation of this act to be guilty of a felony punishable by the following (Sec. 3):
    • A fine up to $5,000;
    • Imprisonment up to 5 years; or
    • Both a fine up to $5,000 and imprisonment for up to 5 years.
  • Specifies that no penalty may be assessed against the female upon whom the abortion is performed or attempted to be performed, or any pregnant female who obtains mifepristone or any drug or chemical for the purpose of inducing an abortion to terminate her own pregnancy (Secs. 3 & 6).
