Title: Authorizing the Recording of Police

Vote to pass a bill that authorizes individuals to record law enforcement officers performing public duties in public places.

Highlights:

  • Authorizes an individual to record the conversation of a law enforcement officer performing a public duty in a public place, as well as record any other person having a conversation with the officer, as long as the conversation is at a volume audible to the unassisted ear of the individual making the recording (Sec. 5).
  • Defines a “public place” as any place to which the public has access, including, but not limited to, the following (Sec. 5):
    • Highways or streets;
    • Sidewalks;
    • Parks; and
    • The common areas of private and public facilities and buildings.
