Vote to pass a bill that exempts religious employers from requirements that employers provide insurance coverage of contraception.

Highlights:

• Exempts “religious employers” from regulations requiring employers that provide insurance coverage of prescription drugs to also provide coverage of prescription drugs and devices approved for use as contraceptives (Sec. 1).

• Defines a “religious employer” as an entity that meets the following criteria (Sec.1):
  
  • Is operated for “religious purposes”;
  • Has received a 501(c)(3) designation from the Internal Revenue Service;
  • Has as one of its primary purposes the teaching of “religious values”; and
  • Primarily employs people who share its religious beliefs.
