Title: Reduces Sentences of Prisoners Pursuing Degrees

Vote to pass a bill that authorizes sentence reductions for prisoners who further their education while incarcerated.

Highlights:

  • Authorizes reductions in a prisoner’s sentence for completion of certain education programs while incarcerated including, but not limited to, the following (Sec. 1):
    • 60 days for obtaining vocational programming;
    • 90 days for obtaining a GED;
    • 120 days for obtaining a High School Diploma; and
    • 180 days for obtaining any of the following:
      • An Associate’s Degree;
      • A Bachelor’s Degree;
      • A Master’s Degree; or
      • A Doctor of Philosophy Degree.
