Title: Amends Motor Vehicle Safety Inspection Regulations
Vote to pass a bill that reduces the number of required motor vehicle safety inspections, effective July 1, 2012.
- Amends the schedule of required motor vehicle safety inspections as follows (Sec. 7):
- In years 4, 8, and 10 of the vehicle’s life, whereas existing law requires inspections every 2 years for vehicles less than 8 years old; and
- Annually for vehicles older than 10 years, whereas existing law requires annual inspections for vehicles older than 8 years.
- Repeals the $2 fee for motor vehicle safety inspection certificates (Sec. 6).
- Increases the period of time during which an existing motor vehicle safety inspection certificate is valid if the vehicle’s title is being transferred from 6 months to 11 months (Sec. 1).
