Title: Prohibits Public Employers from Providing Compensation for Union Activities
Vote to pass a bill that prohibits public employers from compensating public employees for union activities.
- Prohibits public employers from entering into any employment bargain with any public employee or labor organization that will compensate any public employee or third party for union activities (Sec. 1).
- Defines “employment bargain” as any formal or informal employment contract, agreement, or understanding regarding the wages, benefits or terms and conditions of employment of any public employee (Sec. 1).
- Defines “union activities” as activities performed by union members or representatives that relate to advocating the interests of member employees or the advancement of the union’s organizational purposes or obligations (Sec. 1).
- Exempts law enforcement officers from the provisions of this bill, but prohibits public employers from compensating a law enforcement officer for activities related to union member recruitment or union-organized conventions (Sec. 1).
- Specifies that this bill does not prohibit public employees from receiving compensated leave time for personal reasons (Sec. 1).
