Vote to pass a bill that requires physicians to determine if women seeking abortions are doing so voluntarily.
Highlights:
- Requires a physician who is to perform an abortion on a woman to determine if the woman’s consent to the procedure is being given voluntarily by speaking to the woman in person and out of the presence of anyone who does not work for or with the physician (Sec. 2).
- Requires the physician to inform the woman of domestic abuse services and to provide her with private access to a telephone if he or she suspects that the woman is in danger of being physically harmed by someone who is coercing her to consent to an abortion against her will (Sec. 2).
- Prohibits an individual from giving abortion-inducing drugs to a woman unless the physician who prescribed or provided the drugs to the woman has performed a physical examination of her and is physically present in the room when the drugs are administered (Sec. 10).
