Title: Amends Judicial Appointment Process
Vote to concur with House amendments and pass a bill that requires judges of the Court of Appeals to be selected by the governor, subject to Senate confirmation.
- Requires any vacancy on the Court of Appeals to be filled through appointment by the Governor, subject to confirmation by a majority of the Senate within 60 days of the appointment (Sec. 2).
- Requires the Senate to convene for the purpose of voting on the appointment if it is out of session (Sec. 2).
- Requires the Governor to appoint a different individual if the Senate votes against the confirmation of the original appointee (Sec. 2).
- Specifies that an appointee is confirmed if the Senate does not vote on the appointee’s confirmation within 60 days (Sec. 2).
