Title: Prohibits Certain Deductions from Public Employee Paychecks
Vote to pass a bill that prohibits public employers from deducting third party payments from employee paychecks without written or electronic authorization.
- Prohibits a public employer from deducting a third party payment from an employee paycheck, unless the employee annually provides written or electronic authorization for the deduction (Sec. 1).
- Exempts the following deductions from the provisions of this bill (Sec. 1):
- Deductions for state, local or federal taxes;
- Deductions for employee health care;
- Retirement contributions; and
- Any other deductions required by law.
- Defines “public employer” as any entity that primarily relies on tax revenues (Sec. 1).
