Title: Cable TV Tax Amendments
Vote to pass a bill that establishes a tax credit for cable providers, effective July 1, 2012.
-Authorizes cable providers to claim a nonrefundable tax credit equal to 65 percent of the total amount of county or municipality franchise fees that the cable provider pays (Sec. 1).
-Prohibits the tax credit from exceeding the amount a cable provider would have paid (Sec. 1):
- To all Utah counties and municipalities that impose a franchise fee;
- For the calendar quarter in which the cable provider files a return claiming this tax credit; or
- At the franchise fee rates in effect on January 1, 2012 for those counties and municipalities.
