Vote to pass a bill that authorizes same-sex marriage.
-Defines “marriage” as a union of two individuals, regardless of gender (Sec. 3).
-Specifies that no religious organization shall be required to solemnize or provide goods or services for any marriage (Sec. 5).
-Prohibits legal action against religious organizations or their employees for any refusal to solemnize or provide goods or services related to marriage (Sec. 5).
-Prohibits the establishment of new civil unions on or after the effective date of the bill (Secs. 6 & 7):
-Partners in previously established civil unions that have not moved to dissolve their civil union shall be deemed married.
-Requires licensing officers to immediately issue a marriage license to partners in previously established civil unions (Sec. 8).
