• Authorizes a person lawfully occupying a dwelling to use any degree of physical force, including deadly force, against another person in the following situation (Sec. 1):
  
  • The other person has unlawfully entered the dwelling;
  • The other person has committed an “overt act” toward any person in the dwelling; and
  • The occupant “reasonably believes” that any person in the dwelling is in “imminent danger” of bodily injury.

• Prohibits an individual from being held civilly liable for injuries or death caused by the individual against a person who has unlawfully entered the individual’s dwelling (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that the bill does not limit or overturn any defense or immunity that currently exists in statutory or common law (Sec. 1).
