Title: Removal of Voters from Voter Registration List

Vote to pass a bill that requires the removal of voters from the official register in certain situations.

Highlights:

  • Requires the county clerk to send an address verification notice to a voter who does not vote in two consecutive regular general elections (Sec. 1).
  • Authorizes the county clerk to remove a voter’s name from the official register upon receiving, but not limited to, the following (Sec. 2):
    • Notice that a voter has registered to vote in another state;
    • Notice that a voter has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor; and
    • Evidence that a voter’s residence has changed which includes, but is not limited to, the following:
      • The county clerk receives no response to mailed address verification notices; and
      • The voter has not voted in either of two consecutive general elections after receiving notice.
  • This is a substitute bill sponsored by Rep. Powell.
