Vote to pass a bill that requires voters to present a valid form of identification in order to cast an official ballot.

Highlights:

-Defines “acceptable form of identification” as any of the following (Sec. 1):
          -Virginia voter registration card;
          -Social security card;
          -Virginia driver’s license;

          -Any government-issued identification card;

Title: Voter Identification Requirements

Vote to pass a bill that authorizes voters without acceptable identification to cast a provisional ballot.

Highlights:

-Authorizes a voter who does not present an acceptable form of identification to cast a provisional ballot in addition to signing an affidavit, whereas existing law only required the voter to sign an affidavit (Sec. 1).

-Defines “acceptable form of identification” as any of the following (Sec. 1):
          -Virginia voter registration card;
          -Social Security card;
          -Virginia driver’s license;
          -Current employer-issued photo identification card; or
          -Any government issued identification card.

-Requires the electoral board to determine the voter’s identity no more than 1 day after the provisional ballot has been cast by comparing the voter’s signature on the provisional ballot to the signature in the voter’s registration file, and to count the vote only if the voter’s identity can be verified (Sec. 1).
