Title: Urging Academic Study of the Bible in Public Schools

Vote to pass a resolution that approves the academic study of the Bible in South Dakota public schools.
Highlights:
- Establishes the legislature’s approval for all school districts in the state to introduce, or include in current curriculum, a course of study that permits students to become familiar with:
- The content, characters and narratives of the Bible; and
- The role of the Bible in culture, history, and public discourse.
- Specifies that so long as the curriculum meets the guidelines of the First Amendment, no educational body shall prohibit the courses.
- Requires the State Board of Education be asked to make all educational bodies aware of materials that have been designed to educate about the Bible within the guidelines of the First Amendment.
