Title: Guidelines for Teacher Dismissal
Vote to concur with House amendments and pass a bill that prohibits local boards of education from considering length of service as the main factor in dismissing a teacher.
- Requires local boards of education to consider a teacher’s performance when considering a dismissal which may include student academic performance (Sec. 2).
- Authorizes the State Board of Education to fully or partially withhold state funding if local boards of education do not comply with the provisions of this bill (Sec. 2).
- Establishes a “Professional Learning Rules Task Force” to review the current State Board of Education’s policies and procedures and present recommendations no later than July 1, 2013 (Sec. 1).
