Vote to pass a bill that prohibits qualified health plans from providing coverage for abortions.
Highlights:
- Prohibits qualified health plans from providing coverage for “nontherapeutic” abortions (Sec. 1).
- Defines “nontherapeutic” abortion as an abortion performed under the following circumstances (Sec. 1):
- The life of the woman would not have been endangered if the fetus would have been carried to term; or
- The pregnancy was not the result of an act of rape or incest reported to a law enforcement agency.
- Defines “qualified health plan” as any health plan offered through a health insurance exchange established to comply with the Patient Protection and Affordable Health Care Act (Sec. 1).
