Title: Requiring State Reciprocity for Carrying Concealed Firearms

Vote to pass a bill that requires states to recognize permits issued by another state that authorize the concealed carry of a firearm.

Highlights:

  • Authorizes an individual with a valid license to carry a concealed firearm to do so in any state other than his or her state of residence if the firearm has been transported in interstate or foreign commerce and if the state meets one of the following criteria (Sec. 2):
    • Has a law authorizing its residents to obtain a concealed carry permit; or
    • Does not prohibit the carry of concealed firearms by its residents.
  • Requires the carrying of a concealed firearm in a state by a nonresident with an out-of-state license to be subject to the same conditions and limitations that apply to the residents of the state (Sec. 2).
