Title: Establishes MIHealth Marketplace Health Insurance Exchange
Vote to pass a bill that establishes the MIHealth marketplace, a non-profit health insurance exchange, beginning January 1, 2014.
- Establishes the MIHealth marketplace as a non-profit health insurance exchange (Sec. 209).
- Requires the MIHealth marketplace to make qualified health plans available through its website and its toll-free telephone hotline for review and purchase by qualified individuals and qualified employers (Sec. 209).
- Specifies that nothing in this bill shall be construed or implied to recognize the constitutionality of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Sec. 101).
- Establishes the MIHealth marketplace board consisting of 7 voting members to organize and govern the MIHealth marketplace (Sec. 201).
- Prohibits members of the MIHealth marketplace board from being currently employed, or employed within the immediately preceding 12-month period, by a carrier, producer, health care provider, or third party administrator, or their affiliates, or be otherwise engaged by an entity that receives more than 50 percent of its revenues from a carrier, producer, health care provider, or third party administrator (Sec. 201).
