Title: Evaluating Teacher Performance Using Standardized Test Scores
Vote to pass a bill that authorizes school boards to use standardized test scores to evaluate teacher performance.
-Authorizes school boards to use standardized test scores as a reason to discharge, suspend, or formally discipline a teacher or to fail to renew a teacher's contract, whereas existing law prohibited the use of such test scores during evaluations of teacher performance (Sec. 5).
-Specifies that standardized test scores may not be used as the sole reason to discharge, suspend, or formally discipline a teacher or to fail to renew a teacher's contract (Sec. 7).
NOTE: THIS BILL WAS AMENDED BY STRIKING THE ENTIRETY OF THE ORIGINAL TEXT AND REPLACING IT WITH THE TEXT OF THE AMENDMENT. THE DEGREE TO WHICH THE SUBSTITUTE AMENDMENT TEXT DIFFERS FROM THE PREVIOUS VERSION OF THE TEXT CAN VARY GREATLY.
