Title: Specialty-Tier Prescription Drugs

Vote to pass a bill that prohibits health insurance companies from charging patients a higher rate for certain prescription drugs, effective July 1, 2011 until July 1, 2012.

Highlights:

  • Prohibits insurance companies from imposing cost-sharing, deductibles, or co-insurance obligations for any prescription drug that exceeds the amounts charged for any other non-preferred brand of prescription drug (Sec. 1). 
  • Requires the Delaware Health Commission to conduct an investigation into specialty-tier prescription drugs and their impact on access and patient care, and to deliver a report to the General Assembly summarizing the results of the investigation by March 15, 2012 (Sec. 1).
  • This act is effective July 1, 2011 until July 1, 2012 (Sec. 1).
