Vote to concur with Senate amendments and pass a bill that prohibits the use of bisphenol A in the production of bottles and cups intended for children 3 years of age or younger.
Highlights:
-Prohibits the manufacture, sale, or distribution of any bottle or cup that contains bisphenol A at a detectable level of more than 0.1 parts per billion, if the bottle or cup is intended for children 3 years of age or younger (Sec. 2).
-Prohibits the substitution of other carcinogenic substances for bisphenol A (Sec. 2).
-Requires producers of bottles or cups intended for children 3 years of age or younger to use the least toxic alternative to bisphenol A (Sec. 2).
-Specifies that the provisions of this act shall not apply to bottles or containers intended for the general population (Sec. 2).
-This act is effective July 1, 2013 (Sec. 2).
