Vote to adopt an amendment provides that funds appropriated to the District Zoological Society shall not be allocated, unless all authority and management of the Detroit Zoo is transferred from the city of Detroit to a local unit of government or a nonprofit organization, and a written agreement is made with the local unit or noprofit that when hiring an employee or contractor they will not discriminate or give preference based on race, gender, national origin or ethnicity.
