Vote to pass a bill that requires voters to show photographic identification at the polls.
Highlights:
Requires voters to present one of the following valid forms of photographic identification before voting (Sec. 1):
Driver's license;
State identification card;
Tribal identification card;
United States passport;
United States military identification card;
United States naturalization certificate; or
College identification card that includes the signature of the voter, an issue date, and an expiration date.
Authorizes voters to request an identification card free of charge for voting purposes (Sec. 140).
Exempts from the photographic requirement individuals that have a "sincerely held religious belief" that prevents them from being photographed (Secs. 116 & 137).
Requires the Government Accountability Board to identify and assist groups of voters that need help obtaining or renewing documents that constitute acceptable forms of identification for voting purposes (Sec. 95).
Requires the Government Accountability Board to conduct a "public informational campaign" to inform voters of the new identification requirements (Sec. 144).
Increases the period a voter must have resided in a district prior to an election from 10 days to 28 consecutive days (Sec. 10).
