  • Defines "gender identity or expression" as a person's gender-related identity, appearance, or behavior, whether or not that identity, appearance, or behavior is different from that associated with the person's physiology or assigned sex at birth (Sec. 1).
  • Specifies that gender-related identity can be shown by providing evidence in various ways, including, but not limited to, the following (Sec. 1):
    • Medical history;
    • Care or treatment of the gender-related identity;
    • "Consistent and uniform assertion" of the gender-related identity; or
    • Any other evidence showing that the identity is "sincerely" held and part of the individual's "core identity."
  • This act is effective October 1, 2011 (Sec. 37).
