Vote to adopt a conference report that amends certain provisions relating to professions and occupations regulated by the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) and the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (DOACS), effective July 1, 2011.

Highlights:
  • Authorizes the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles to provide copies of driver licenses or release certain driver license information to the Department of Business and Professional Regulation to assist in investigations of unlicensed activity (Sec. 2).
  • Requires applicants of mold assessor or mold remediator licenses to have a high school diploma or its equivalent to qualify, whereas existing law required applicants to have a college degree (Sec. 5).
  • Repeals the licensing requirement for mold related professionals to have documented coursework in water, mold, and respiratory protection (Sec. 6).
  • Amends the grandfather clause for mold related professionals to permit individuals with a minimum of 1 year of experience to apply for a license, whereas existing law required a minimum of 3 years of experience (Sec. 8).
  • Reduces the number of mold assessment or remediation invoices that an applicant must prepare from at least 40 invoices to at least 10 invoices to qualify for a license (Sec. 8).
  • Authorizes the Department of Business and Professional Regulation to grant fee waivers for a license renewal in cases of financial hardship or because of errors caused by the department (Sec. 3).
