Title: Amends Voter Identification Requirements

Vote to adopt a conference report that amends voter identification requirements and electoral procedures within the state senate.

  • Establishes a time frame for a senator's term in office and means of appointment in the case of a vacancy (Sec. 2).
  • Specifies revised voter identification requirements when a registered voter applies for an advanced voters ballot (Sec. 3).
  • Requires registered voters who request an advance voting ballot in person to provide valid identification, including, but not limited to the following (Sec. 3):
    • Valid driver's license number;
    • Non-driver's identification number; or
    • A photocopy of any other identification provided by the state.
  • Prohibits county election officers from providing an advance voting ballot to be transmitted to a voter by mail unless the following requirements are met (Sec. 3):
    • The county official has verified that the signature of the requestor matches the signature on file at the county registration records; and
    • The person has submitted a valid identification form with their request.
  • Authorizes the secretary of state to adopt any rules or regulations required to implement the provisions of this legislation (Sec. 3).
