Title: Proof of Presidential Candidates' Citizenship
Vote to pass a bill that requires evidence of eligibility and identity to be on the presidential ballot.
-Requires each candidate to file a Declaration of Candidacy for any federal, state, county, municipal or judicial office, or for the nomination of a recognized political party, in any general, primary, or special election (Sec. 1).
-Requires each candidate to provide proof of identity and eligibility to hold the office sought to the election board at which the Declaration of Candidacy is filed (Sec. 1).
-Establishes that the Secretary of the State Election Board shall make the rules to specify which documentation is required to provide proof of eligibility to hold the office sought (Sec. 1).
-Specifies that candidates for the President of the United States must provide proof of natural-born United States citizenship to the Secretary of the State Election Board, which can be provided by (Sec. 2):
-An original birth document issued by a state, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or the District of Columbia, or a certified copy thereof;
-An original birth certificate issued by the federal government, or a certified copy thereof;
-An original United States Certificate of Birth Abroad; or
-An original Report of Birth Abroad of a Citizen of the United States.
