Vote to concur with House amendments and pass a bill that includes waste-to-energy and refuse-derived fuel as Tier 1 renewable energy sources.

Highlights:

• Expands the definition of a "Tier 1 renewable energy source" to include waste-to-energy and refuse-derived fuel, provided that the source is connected with the electricity distribution grid serving Maryland (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that energy from a Tier 1 renewable source is eligible for inclusion in meeting the renewable energy portfolio standard regardless of when the generating system or facility was placed into service, and that energy from a Tier 1 source may be applied to the percentage requirements for both Tier 1 and Tier 2 renewable sources (Sec. 1).
