Vote to pass a bill that prohibits the abortion of an unborn child if a physician has determined that the unborn child is of 20 weeks postfertilization age, except in the case of a medical emergency or to save the life of an unborn child.

Highlights:

• Requires physicians to determine the postfertilization age of an unborn child before attempting to perform an abortion (Sec. 1).

• Defines "medical emergency" as a condition that, in reasonable medical judgment, so complicates the medical condition of the pregnant woman as to necessitate the immediate abortion of her pregnancy without first determining postfertilization age to avert her death or for which a delay will create a serious risk of substantial and irreversible physical impairment of a major bodily function, not including psychological or emotional conditions (Sec. 1).
