Title: School District Property Tax Revisions
Vote to pass a bill that revises the authority of local school boards to levy local property taxes, beginning January 1, 2012.
-Authorizes local school boards to levy a local property tax to fund capital projects or fund the district's general fund, beginning January 1, 2012 (Sec. 14).
-Prohibits local school boards from levying any local property tax to pay for various expenses including, but not limited to, the following, beginning January 1, 2012 (Secs. 1, 12, 13 & 33):
-Equipment, operation, and maintenance of recreational facilities and activities;
-Maintenance of school buildings; or
-Claims, judgments or insurance premiums.
