Vote to pass a bill that allows adults over the age of 65 to attend undergraduate classes for credit or audit at any public institution of higher education free of charge, and without completing the academic prerequisites usually required of students.
Highlights:
- Exempts adults at least 65 years of age from the requirements to pay tuition and fees and complete prerequisite courses for any online course or class (Sec. 1).
- Requires that students of at least 65 years of age must be given priority enrollment in courses or classes having a maximum allowable enrollment (Sec. 1).
- Prohibits institutions from employing additional staff or increasing the availability of courses or classes based solely on interest expressed by students over the age of 65 (Sec. 1).
- Requires each institution to account for students over the age of 65 as a separate class of attendees and prohibits institutions from including them in any other student counts for any other purposes (Sec. 1).
