Title: Innkeeper's Rights Act Modification

Vote to pass a bill that prohibits an innkeeper from denying accommodations to persons carrying a firearm, except in cases of unlawful possession or use of the firearm.
Highlights:
-Prohibits an innkeeper from denying accommodations to any person who is carrying a firearm, whereas existing law allowed an innkeeper to deny accommodations to such persons (Sec. 3).
-Defines "accommodation" as a room, apartment, suite, or similar space in a lodging establishment that is provided for sleeping and can be rented independently (Sec. 2).
-Exempts innkeepers from the provisions of this act if the person bringing a firearm onto the accommodations possesses that firearm illegally or is using it unlawfully (Sec. 3).
-Specifies that if a person brings a firearm onto the accommodations of a lodging establishment, the innkeeper is not criminally or civilly liable for any injury, damage to property, or loss that results from the presence of that firearm (Sec. 3).
-Specifies that innkeepers may be held criminally or civilly liable if they intentionally aid the person with a firearm in discharging the firearm while on the premises of the lodging establishment (Sec. 3).
-This bill takes effect on May 10, 2011, with the exception of the definition of accommodations, which takes effect on July 1, 2011 (Sec. 4).
