Vote to pass a bill that repeals the "guilty but mentally ill" plea.
-Repeals the "guilty but mentally ill" plea to no longer permit a person who was suffering from a mental illness at the time of the commission of a criminal offense to be found guilty but mentally ill (Sec. 1). -Repeals the authority of the court to impose any sentence upon a defendant who is mentally ill that could be imposed upon a defendant who has been convicted of the same offense without a finding of mental illness (Sec. 1).
