Title: Election Code Revisions

Vote Smart's Synopsis:

Vote to pass a bill that makes numerous changes in the election code, including a requirement that any advertisement or communication that mentions a candidate’s name without that candidate’s permission must identify the political committee paying for the advertisement or communication and prohibits political committees from circumventing caller identification services on residential telephones lines. The bill also outlines reasons for rejecting absentee ballots, provides, subject to appropriation, for an educational program regarding early and absentee voting, and makes changes in the early-voting process. The bill also stipulates that each election authority must report to the State Board of Elections the number of rejected ballots and how many of those rejected ballots were reviewed and counted following review.
