-Permits an action for divorce to be maintained by a husband or wife provided that the relationship has broken down irretrievably for a period of at least 6 months (Sec. 170). -Specifies that no judgment of divorce shall be granted unless the economic issues of equitable distribution of marital property, the payment or waiver of spousal support, the payment of child support, the payment of counsel fees, and the custody and visitation rights of children have been resolved by the parties or by the court (Sec. 170).
