Title: Changes to State Transportation Plan

Vote to override a veto of a bill that sets guidelines for the state's master transportation plan and authorizes bonds for repairs and reconstruction of the Parking Garage at the Stamford Transportation Center.

Highlights:

-Requires that the commissioner biennially establish a comprehensive, master transportation plan that takes into account factors such as the department's statutory responsibilities, the guiding principles and transportation strategies adopted by the Governor and the General Assembly, the state conservation and development plan, relevant federal mandates, and regional long-range transportation plans prepared by state regional planning organizations (Sec. 1). -Requires the commissioner to consider the recommendations of the various boards, councils, and commissions that have statutory responsibility over modes of transportation in Connecticut (Sec. 2). -Requires that any crosswalk designated by a traffic authority on or after October 1, 2010 shall be required to have markings, signage, or any control signals deemed necessary to provide sufficient time for the safe crossing of pedestrians (Sec. 9). -Specifies that the sale of bonds be used for the funding of repairing, reconstructing, or expanding the Parking Garage at the Stamford Transportation Center, including alternative parking during the reconstruction or expansion of that garage (Sec. 10).
