Title: Transportation Works For Kansas Program
Vote to concur with Senate amendments and pass a bill that expands the budget for transportation works projects.
- Specifies the annual license fee of motor vehicles to begin on January 1, 2013 based on the gross weight of the vehicle (Sec. 4).
- Appropriates $8 million for transportation works projects in each county on July 1 of every year beginning in 2010 and lasting through 2020 (Sec. 24).
- Authorizes the secretary of transportation to issue additional bonds of the state of Kansas for the purpose of providing funds to pay costs relating to construction, reconstruction, maintenance or improvement of highways in Kansas (Sec. 25).
- Specifies that the amount of the bond is to be no more than 18 percent of the state highway fund revenues for that year (Sec. 25).
- Appropriates $11 million from the state highway fund into the coordinated public transportation assistance fund each year beginning in 2013 and lasting through 2020 (Sec. 29).
- Appropriates $5 million from the state highway fund into the rail services improvement fund each year beginning in 2013 and lasting through 2020 (Sec. 30).
- Appropriates $3 million from the state highway fund into the public use general aviation airport development fund through July 1, 2012 and $5 million for the years 2013-2020 (Sec. 31).
