Vote to pass a bill that requires all public employers to use the federal work authorization program to verify the work eligibility and legal status of employees. The bill also specifies that private employers cannot deduct wages paid to a person who does not provide valid taxpayer identification and employment authorization documents on their taxes. The bill requires the verification of legal entry of any individual 18 or older applying for state or local public aid, except for certain benefits including emergency benefits, prenatal and postsecondary education benefits.
