Vote to concur with Senate amendments and pass a bill that prohibits individuals from reading, manually typing, or sending a text message on a wireless 2-way communication device while operating a motor vehicle beginning July 1, 2010.
- -Reporting a traffic accident, medical emergency, or serious road hazard;
-Reporting a situation in which the individual believes his or her personal safety is in jeopardy;
-Averting the perpetration or potential perpetration of a criminal act against the individual or another
individual; or
-Carrying out official duties as a police officer, law enforcement official, member of a paid or volunteer fire department, or operator of an emergency vehicle.
- -$100.00 for the first violation; and
-$200.00 for the second or subsequent violation.
